Dark Moon Basenjis

Zoro followed in his mother's footsteps finishing in just 5 shows! He finished winning multiple awards (BOS and BOB) over ranked specials, and won his last points in grand style going WINNER DOG at the 2018 BCOA NATIONAL SPECIALTY!!!!

 Zoro is the second Dark Moon Basenji to do this and marks two years in a row Dark Moon Basenjis have won Winners dog at the BCOA national, Monkey won the same award in 2017.

in 2019 Zoro started his specials career a year we had in our mind would be a 'training' year - it was so much more. He finished in grand championship in just 6 shows, and than at his 12th dog show he went BEST of BREED at the WESTMINSTER KENNEL CLUB DOG SHOW and ended up placing 4th in the HOUND GROUP. Something a Basenji has not done in 45 years. Zoro would finish up the year with 2 best in shows, 2 reserve best in shows, 12 hound group 1st, and the NATIONAL SPECIALTY WINNER.

Zoros 2020 was disrupted as everyone's was - however in extremely limited showing in groups and breed competition that were comparable to Westminster/AKC National Championship weekend strength every weekend he was still able to consistently win breeds and place in and win groups. Zoro ended the year again as the #1 Basenji all breed with 3 more reserve best in shows and 7 more hound group 1st and a WESTMINSTER KENNEL CLUB BEST OF BREED. There was no Basenji national held in 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

2021 Zoro spent the first half of the year on maternity leave with his breeder Veronica and than was shown selectively at supported entry, specialty, and large show weekends. He ended the year with 2 BISS, winning his SECOND national specialty BEST OF BREED, and the #2 Basenji in breed points in just 9 weekends of being shown. 

​

Zoro finished his time on the campaign trail in 2020 and will be shown selectively in the future. For now he is having a break from the ring to let his little brothers Yoshi and Walter have their turn in the ring.
